About This Event:
This event invites young innovators and design enthusiasts to showcase their creativity, craftsmanship, and problem-solving skills in the Miniature Interior Product Making competition. This challenge is designed to inspire students to think critically about interior spaces and design functional yet aesthetically appealing miniature products.
Participants are encouraged to create miniature interior products that enhance daily life through innovation and sustainability. The designs should reflect modern, futuristic, or traditional aesthetics while integrating smart space-saving solutions. The theme challenges students to:
- Rethink conventional interior elements with innovative designs.
- Create products that maximize functionality while maintaining visual appeal.
- Utilize sustainable materials and design approaches to minimize environmental impact.
- Incorporate technology, modularity, or smart features to elevate usability.
Guidelines:
- Product Type: Participants must design and create a miniature interior product such as furniture, lighting solutions, storage units, decorative elements, or smart space-saving designs.
- Material Use & Innovation:
- Participants are encouraged to use eco-friendly, upcycled, biodegradable, or recyclable materials such as cardboard, wood, paper, fabric, clay, plastic waste, or other repurposed items.
- Experimenting with smart materials like shape-memory polymers, thermochromic materials, or lightweight composites is highly encouraged.
- Integration of 3D printing, laser cutting, or modular assembly techniques can enhance innovation and craftsmanship.
- Size Specifications: The final product should fit within a 30cm x 30cm x 30cm volume.
- Functionality & Aesthetics: The product should be innovative, practical, and visually appealing.
- Documentation: Participants must submit a design concept note (300-500 words) explaining the idea, inspiration, materials used, and functionality.
- Prototyping: A working or representational prototype of the miniature product is required.
- Work Authenticity: The product must be an original creation. Any copied or previously showcased work will lead to disqualification.
- Submission Format: Entries must have a prototype and have to explain the concept through any medium of preference.
Judgement Criteria:

Entries will be judged based on:
- Creativity & Innovation – Uniqueness of the idea and originality in design.
- Functionality & Practicality – Usability and real-world application.
- Aesthetic Appeal – Visual appeal and alignment with the theme.
- Material Use & Sustainability – Eco-friendliness and resource efficiency.
- Presentation & Documentation – Clarity of concept and prototype execution.
- Bonus Points: Extra points will be awarded for exceptional craftsmanship, use of advanced design techniques, or incorporation of smart technology.

Eligibility
- Participants can compete individually or in teams of up to 3 members.
Rules & Regulations
- Time Management: Participants must complete their project within the given time frame.
- Resource Use: Avoid the use of harmful or hazardous materials.
- Presentation: The prototype must be presented professionally and with clarity.
- Disqualification Criteria: Entries that do not meet the size, material, or originality requirements will be disqualified.
- Team Conduct: Teamwork and fair play are expected. Any plagiarism or external assistance beyond permitted guidance may result in elimination.
Time Limit & Format
- Total event duration: 02 hours
- 30 min – Introduction to the competition
- 2 hours – Prototyping and development
- 30 min – Presentations & Judging
